At
New Life Creations,
we strive to make your personalization experience as carefree as possible. Therefore, we have included a few design tips and
considerations to help you along the way. All
to assist you in getting the most out of your personalization project. Embroidery
or silkscreen, you decide!
General
Design Tips
-
For
both the embroidery and silkscreen processes, the size of the order is a key
factor in determining the level of cost savings. In other words, it
will more than likely be less expensive to personalize one order of 200
items than two orders of 100 items.
-
If
you have less than 12 items to personalize, embroidery is usually (depending
on the stitch count) more cost
efficient than the silkscreen process.
Embroidery
Tips
-
Embroidery
costs are usually based upon stitch counts, and not thread color.
Therefore, the higher the stitch counts, the more expensive the embroidery.
-
Depending
on the complexity of your logo design, the logo may have to be digitized.
The digitizing process involves scanning your logo into a special software
package that determines the total stitch count and generates a layout
pattern to be used by an embroidery machine. In many instances, the
digitization process can significantly increase your embroidery cost.
-
A
loosely knit material may not be the most suitable fabric for embroidery.
For example, a pique fabric may not embroider as well as a tightly woven
fabric such as combed cotton or a denim fabric.
-
For
optimal logo design visibility, use lighter thread on darker color fabrics
and darker thread on lighter color fabrics.
Silkscreen
Process Tips
-
The
more colors your logo design contains, the more expensive the screen.
-
Generally,
if you are using more than 3 colors, you may want to consider using CMYK (4
color) processing. This will usually help reduce cost. However,
this process works better on lighter color fabrics with white fabrics
yielding the best results.
-
In
most instances, design complexity does not impact your screen cost.
-
The
size of the screen cannot be altered once the screen has been created.
A large and a small logo design means two separate screens, and double the
screen cost.
-
Most
fabrics are silkscreen friendly. Of course there are exceptions such
as fluffy or bumpy textured fabrics.
-
In
many cases, screens are saved for 1 year after they have been created.
Afterwards, you must pay for a new screen.
